Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Code Scrambler Productions, operated by Rózsa Zsombor Botond ev. (sole entrepreneur, Hungary) (the operator of the website codescrambler.eu, collectively the "Site"), collects, uses, and discloses your personal information. It also explains your rights under laws like the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). By using our Site, you agree to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect personal data from you in several ways — directly from you when you provide it and automatically through technology (like cookies). The types of information we collect include:

  • Account Information: When you register or log in, we collect your name and email address. If you create an account with an email and password, we store your email and a securely hashed password. If you choose to sign in via Google, we receive information from your Google account (such as your name and email address).
  • Usage and Analytics Data: When you visit our Site, we and our analytics provider collect certain information automatically through cookies and similar technologies. This includes data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages you view, the dates and times of access, and your interactions with the Site. We use Metricool (a third-party analytics tool) to gather this usage data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Site: We use your information to create and manage your user account, authenticate you when you log in, and enable you to use features of the Site.
  • To Communicate with You: We may use your email address to send important notices related to your account, such as registration confirmations, password resets, or significant changes to our services or policies.
  • To Analyze and Improve our Site: We use analytics data (via Metricool) to understand how users interact with our Site. This helps us troubleshoot performance issues, optimize user experience, and develop new content. Generally, analytics information is aggregated and does not directly identify you.
  • To Enforce Policies and Ensure Security: We may process certain data to maintain the security and integrity of our Site, detect fraudulent activity, or investigate violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: In some cases we are required by law to process or retain your information, for example for financial reporting, tax compliance, or responding to lawful requests by public authorities.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small text files stored on your device to help websites function and gather information:

  • We use essential cookies that are necessary to operate the Site. For example, session tokens to keep you logged in. These cookies enable core functionality, and without them the Site may not work properly.
  • We use analytics cookies through our partner Metricool to collect information about how visitors use our Site. For users in the EU and other regions that require it, we obtain your consent before using non-essential analytics cookies.

You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. However, if you disable cookies, some features (especially login sessions) may not function correctly.

Third-Party Service Providers

We share certain information with third-party service providers who help us operate our Site:

  • Firebase (by Google LLC): We use Google Firebase for user authentication (managing login and registration) and database/storage of user data. Your personal data stored on Firebase may be processed in data centers located in the United States or other countries. Refer to Google's Privacy Policy for more details.
  • Metricool: Metricool is an analytics service that tracks and reports on user interactions with our Site. We do not provide your name or account email to Metricool; we only implement their tracking script which collects usage data. See Metricool's privacy policy for details.

We do not sell your personal information to any third parties, and we do not share your data with third-party advertisers for their own marketing purposes.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We will not disclose or share your information with outside parties except:

  • Service Providers: As noted above, we share information with authorized service providers who need the data to perform services on our behalf.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose personal information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.
  • Business Transfers: If our business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that deal.
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information in other ways if you explicitly consent.

Data Storage and Security

Your personal data is stored on secure servers through our Firebase (Google Cloud) infrastructure. We implement industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, access controls, and security monitoring. Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy. If you request deletion of your data or account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except for information we are required to keep by law. Analytics data may be retained for a shorter period and is used in aggregate form.

International Data Transfers

We are based in the European Union (Hungary), but our third-party providers (such as Google/Firebase) operate globally. Your personal information may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information in accordance with applicable law.

Your GDPR Rights (Users in the EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Union, EEA, Switzerland, or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the effective date. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of our Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
